Coimbatore Krishnarao Prahalad (August 8, 1941 – April 16, 2010) was a globally known figure who was consulted by the top management of many of the world's foremost companies. An ardent fan of Sanskrit, some of his contributions are very close to Hindu Mythology, his company name was "Praja" and strong believer of " Manava Seve Madhava Seva" means....who serves people, he will be automatically closer to the god. Isn't it reflect ing every religion's philosophy.

I have not read his books/articles, but unconsciously liked his workings on the famous three

Core Competency

A core competency is a specific factor that a business sees as being central to the way it, or its employees, works. If we extend the wiki definition a core competency can be a specific to an individual or a state or a country, something that other person, business or country cannot easily build. When you drift from core competency, one needs to be sure that over a period of time which would develop as the core competency.

Let us see some Examples...

.........Can a Doctor run a factory instead of a hospital?

..........Can Sachin play basket ball and can he be the legend?

..........Can Pepsi produce computers and be the market leader?

Well these are possibilities, but not sure those people/organizations would give their 100% heart in to it i.e. a deep commitment. So, you find very few people with multiple core competencies.

 

Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP)

BOP in economics simply means poorest people in the society or the foot Soldiers in an army or front line employees at the bottom organization hierarchy. This idea might have born out of Indian economy in those days for CKP. He preached to focus on at BOP, felt that it would turn countries or organization to a super power or leaders in the markets.

BOP can also bring an impact to social life by eradicating the poverty through profits.

Let us look at no of examples today.

Co –Creation

Co-creation is a form of market or business strategy that emphasizes the generation and ongoing realization of mutual firm-customer value. It views markets as forums for firms and active customers to share, combine and renew each other's resources and capabilities to create value through new forms of interaction, service and learning mechanisms. It differs from the traditional active firm - passive consumer market construct of the past.-Source WiKi

Well this is not developing products or services by taking feedback,

It is like a car manufacturers produces car customized to a specific customer or segment of customer with active participation of customer.

Customer Idea forums contributing to a product design

Open Source Software giving full access to source code and empowering customer to change at will.

This philosophy can also be applied in organizations for its employees. Employees design their own salaries and benefits. We can go on........

With this theory, the value will be increasingly co-created by the firm and the customer, rather than being created entirely inside the firm. Co-creation not only describes a trend of jointly creating products. It also describes a movement away from customers buying products and services as transactions, to those purchases being made as part of an experience.

This also paved a way for inclusive growth, where corporates are focusing on a growth with social impact.

CKPs journey from Coimbatore to Harvard via IIM Ahmadabad ...influenced many lives.

Govt. of India honored him with Padma Bhushan award in 2009...

He is a great philosopher and teacher..whom India produced in the recent past.

Happy Republic Day

India,  a largest democracy actually become republic on 26th January, 1950 and is celebrating its 6o years of completion. 1 1/2  Billion people coming together under Tiranga,  its mighty display of military  power, Gallantry, achievements, different cultures etc etc... are true replica of a republic.... for the people, by the people and of the people.

Ruled by  Woman president, woman party president, woman chief minister in two states (Delhi and UP)....a true example of woman empowerment in this country. Good to see a lot of this displayed in the republic parade.

A Muslim vice president, a Sikh prime minister, a christian defence minister at top of the government shows how diverse is our republic.

Rich by its missiles Akash, Nag, Prithvi and Brahmos...establish a forte of defence.

60 Years India is becoming a self sufficient and self reliant by achieving in many fields, despite the challenges. Today is a proud moment for every Indian.

AR Rahaman is one of the prodigy Indian cinema produced, though we can not claim full credit to Indian cinema for Slum dog to millionaire being nominated for OSCAR. But definitely this is another phase for Indian cinema after LAGAAN and Range de Basanthi getting closer. Moreover there are two more documentaries nominated and lot of Indian work has been at nadir.

As AB said, OSCAR is not ultimate testimony for Indian Cinema..but definitely a moment of pride.

Swami Vivekananda

12th January was Swami Vivekananda's Birth Day, disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahansa. He is the only monk, who taught world what actually Hindutva means...His famous address in Chicago was a mesmerized one.
Let us see some of his teachings.....
"If you really want to judge the character of a man, look not at his great performances . Every fool may become a hero at one time or another. Watch a man do his most common actions;those are indeed the things which will tell you the real character of a great man".

"Truth, purity, and unselfishness - wherever these are present, there is no power below or above the sun to crush the possessor thereof. Equipped with these, one individual is able to face the whole universe in opposition".

"Three things are necessary to make every man great, every nation great:

• conviction of the powers of goodness.
• Absence of jealousy and suspicion.
• Helping all who are trying to be and do good.

"Each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this divinity within by controlling nature, external and internal. Do this either by work or worship or psychic control, or philosophy -by one or more or all of these -and be free. This is the whole of religion. Doctrines or dogmas or rituals or books or temples or forms are but secondary details".

Proud to be an Indian

India is multilingual, multi ethnic society that boast of bringing evolutions in many fields to this world including the "civilization" .

The Vedas, the ancient Hindu scriptures give the account of evidences and leave the little room for doubt that human kind evolved here...

4. The place value system, decimal system was developed in India in 100BC
5. Aryabhatta was the scientist who invented the digit zero

7. The art of navigation was born in river sindh 6000 years ago in India and the word navigation it self derived out of a Sanskrit word -Navgatih
8. Bhaskaracharya calculated the time taken by the earth to orbit sun 100 years before western astronomers.
9. The Indus Valley - a true example of modern literate society existence
10. the value "Pi" calculated first by an Indian Budhayana (Pythagorean Theorem)
11. Quadratic equations were used by Sridharacharya in 11 Century.

Had there been a study on these and patented, we would have been a rich country by this time.... However still Proud to be an Indian

Be Part of the Solution

We have seen lot of blame game happening post Mumbai attacks, all nine expressions (Anguish, Anger, Dissent, Pride, Happiness, Sorrow, Hatred, Fear, Scare) shown by the people towards political system and Terrorism. I agree there is lot complacency, callousness and incompetency displayed by political system, but did we think who created this.

Did you ever vote?

Did you vote right candidate?

Do you know you can go to Polling booth and reject the vote, if there is no eligible candidate (it is your constitutional right)?

Why do not you join politics?

We need to answer ourselves!!! If we want to be comfortable with the Jobs we do and go home and take care of family, yes that is your choice!

But if you want to cleanse the system, you need to do at least one of the questions I asked.

India's Security- Crisis Management

Well TATA said correctly, India needs infrastructure to fight terrorism...if at all any political leader reads my blog..here or excerpts of what every body intelligent said what can be done....Pl, Do some thing.

• India needs a Federal agency to fight terrorism. We need a layered organization, which can provide intelligence on terrorism, Commando force (like NSG), Investigation team(more equipped that ATS) and a Crisis Management Team consisting with higher authority.
• Localization of this federal agency with two hour response to any where in India. 
• India needs young MPs to think of nation rather than politics.
• India needs to adequately arm local police better than terrorists.
• India needs to create a security force in lines of CSI to guard major establishments.
• India needs to strengthen the coastal security...create an accountable team.
• Do not make political statements - dos and donts training to all political leaders in the event of national crisis.
• Structural information of all Major establishment documented and treated as confidential docs.

well let us see what we can do.....hopefully we will do some thing.

I am an Indian

Lot of people ask me where are you from? a secret i want to unravel......

When I was in Delhi, North India...people ask me reading my surname "Bejawar", r u from Rajasthan...Yes I am from the Warrior's family.....my grand father was a freedom fighter and jailed for fighting the foreign rulers, his name is associated with God Ram.
My grad pa taught me the fighting spirit!!

Looking at me some body ask r u from kolkatta....looks your features are same as Bengali or Assami...like East Indian... Yes, I am from Kolkatta, My father is an ardent fan and devotee of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Vivekananda. I enacted n no of times Vivekananda's role in my childhood. My brothers names are Vivekananda Bejawar and Ramakrishna Bejawar.

The roles taught me spirituality and respect for country and culture.

Some body asks me again r u a Maharashtrian , West India... war sounds like you are close to Nagpur/chandrapur area.... I proudly say yes, because I born in Solapur and for about 4 years I grown up in Latur/Tulzapur....our home god is Balaji and Tulza Bhavani. My mother born and brought up in Solapur and my father worked for MSEB as an Engineer. I am completely aware of Chatrapathi Shivaji's history.

West India taught me to be aggressive and embrace change effectively.

I say Yes, I am a south Indian, my childhood was spent in a small town called Nirmal in Andhra Pradesh (well known fro wooden Toys, www.nirmalcity.com) . I am graduated from Osmania University in engineering, from Hyderabad....and i call now Home City.

India Won first Individual Gold in Olympics

Thanks to Abhinav Bindra , who brought laurels to our country by winning first Individual gold and second gold after 28 years which was won by Hockey Team.

Well there were lot of other unsung heroes won silver and bronze, but this was really different pride for India.

But 2nd largest democratic country in the world, just produced one gold....at same length a country which is like us (china) produces several.....sports except for cricket has been looked down by every body...even if we can spend half of what we spent on IPL.....probably we can produce many Olympics heroes.. It is very clear from Abhinav's trimph that the entire system has to change and make it more cordial to motivatefor taking /games as a profession rather than hobby.

Let us hope Beijing will bring many many more golds.....definitely 080808 has been lucky for India sofar.
