WAR or No WAR

The heat is on aftermath of Mumbai attacks and tensions building up both sides of India & Pakistan.

Is WAR appropriate at this juncture, when global economy is crumbling and both developing countries end up spending Billions of dollars?

The answer for that is told by our predecessors in ancient epics as Sama ( Peace), Dana (Finance), Bedha (Differentiate) and Danda(WAR).

India has been adopting other methods Sama and Dana for quite some time to appease Pakistanis and some extent our own Kashmiris. Our leaders extended a hand lot of times to make peace and ended up with the last option (War) in the past.

But It looks like Pakistanis never learnt from this....it always becomes emotional when things come up with India. Why do not they learn from Germans, Koreans...who fought wars, but today they are one country. of course Pakistan cut their umbilical chord about 60 years ago from India.

The strategy adopted by India is absolutely right at this juncture, create bedha....show how different is Pakistan administration and put global pressure on it till it recedes. The only way to avoid war is to use sanctions against Pakistan, the already crippled country can not take much and would or hope that they would eradicate terrorism from state sponsorship.

Mahabaleshwar - A Nice location

Pune is rich with hill stations around, one of them is Mahabaleshwar, which is just 120KM from Pune. Rich with Strawberry farms and three big Valleys, Koyena, Krishna and Venna. There are lot of view points to look at valleys and also a point where five rivers meet, apart from above three Savitri and Gayatri. Krishna river actually originates here and flows through Karnataka and Andhra before finally merges in to sea.

It is a nice weekend outing place.

Proud to be an Indian

India is multilingual, multi ethnic society that boast of bringing evolutions in many fields to this world including the "civilization" .

The Vedas, the ancient Hindu scriptures give the account of evidences and leave the little room for doubt that human kind evolved here...
Here are some interesting facts make us proud to be Indian.
  1. Bharat Muni is an ancient sage who laid the foundation for Dance form called "Bharata Natya"
  2. Chess was invented in India called shatranja
  3. Sushruta a physician is the father of surgery in India.
  4. The place value system, decimal system was developed in India in 100BC
  5. Aryabhatta was the scientist who invented the digit zero
  6. The worlds first university was established in Takshila in 700BC
  7. The art of navigation was born in river sindh 6000 years ago in India and the word navigation it self derived out of a Sanskrit word -Navgatih
  8. Bhaskaracharya calculated the time taken by the earth to orbit sun 100 years before western astronomers.
  9. The Indus Valley - a true example of modern literate society existence
  10. the value "Pi" calculated first by an Indian Budhayana (Pythagorean Theorem)
  11. Quadratic equations were used by Sridharacharya in 11 Century.
  12. Until 1896, India was the only country for diamonds in the world (do not forget the Kohinoor)
  13. Yoga and meditation still rule in the world of enlightenment, come from India

India never invaded any country in last 10000 years of history....how can some body blame us....we are always at receiving end... our patience is not our weakness.... India gave us so much this world......

Had there been a study on these and patented, we would have been a rich country by this time.... However still Proud to be an Indian

Be Part of the Solution

We have seen lot of blame game happening post Mumbai attacks, all nine expressions (Anguish, Anger, Dissent, Pride, Happiness, Sorrow, Hatred, Fear, Scare) shown by the people towards political system and Terrorism. I agree there is lot complacency, callousness and incompetency displayed by political system, but did we think who created this.

Did you ever vote?
Did you vote right candidate?
Do you know you can go to Polling booth and reject the vote, if there is no eligible candidate (it is your constitutional right)?
Why do not you join politics?

We need to answer ourselves!!! If we want to be comfortable with the Jobs we do and go home and take care of family, yes that is your choice!
But if you want to cleanse the system, you need to do at least one of the questions I asked.

Think over my dear Indian...

India's Security- Crisis Management

Well TATA said correctly, India needs infrastructure to fight terrorism...if at all any political leader reads my blog..here or excerpts of what every body intelligent said what can be done....Pl, Do some thing.

  • India needs a Federal agency to fight terrorism. We need a layered organization, which can provide intelligence on terrorism, Commando force (like NSG), Investigation team(more equipped that ATS) and a Crisis Management Team consisting with higher authority.
  • Localization of this federal agency with two hour response to any where in India.
  • India needs young MPs to think of nation rather than politics.
  • India needs to adequately arm local police better than terrorists.
  • India needs to create a security force in lines of CSI to guard major establishments.
  • India needs to strengthen the coastal security...create an accountable team.
  • Do not make political statements - dos and donts training to all political leaders in the event of national crisis.
  • Structural information of all Major establishment documented and treated as confidential docs.
well let us see what we can do.....hopefully we will do some thing.

26/11 -Mumbai - A war on Terror

Actually I did not want blog about this incident...pretty much thought we started to  live along with the terrorists always. But after watching the gruesome incidents on the TV and reading about these incidents....could not stop my self... a sense of anguish, fear, frustration, anger...set in me..and almost thought,  god!!...make me a NSG commando!!!..

Well I realised later that terrorists exactly want
to create this panic in every body's mind and thus achieve their vision of concurring on Indians.
My daughter asked me, Dad! Why do these terrorists kill people, with that what is that they achieve? I stumbled upon my words...because exactly....could not answer to her question. I told my daughter they are retaliating for what happened in the past to their religion, if at all some thing happened.  Well lot of Muslims also died in these attacks...how can they answer it is some thing to do with retaliation.
Sure Terrorists do not have any religion...it is an effect of constant brain wash and imbibing emotional perversion in the minds.

Well what should be India doing now.... make political statements blaming each other? No, this is the time to really unite. Did we learn from the past incidents....do we learn and do some thing about this.... Yes, we should.... This is the time to send UN forces lead by India to Pakistan to flush the Al Qaida/Lashaker.......what ever exists on that soil.  ISI and Pakistan Army need to prove that they are innocent and help nations to eradicate the terrorists hid outs from their country.  You can think what US could not achieve for past few years in Afghanistan, how can we do this...well....this time we are sending forces led by India and It is UN forces.... you can expect fairly local support.... some ray of hope.
Deeply let us pay homage to the martyrs Hemant Karkare, Vijay Salesker, Ashok Kamte and all others...
We are proud of you...and thank you for saving the people for India and uplifting the bravery.

ABCDs...........of Customer Satisfaction

Did you learn about ABCDs of Customer Service.......... I mean ABsolutely Customer Driven.....
Seeds of customer experience  start when you set expectations with the customer during the sale and this would grow as you complete the contract. If customer receives a product which is below  expectations, there is a gap generated  and this gap gets widened when customer actually gets a service which is below  expectations. So the Customer Satisfaction depends upon the delta between customer expectations before the sale and after the service. If this Delta is zero  then customer is delighted and if it is big, customer is going to leave you soon.
Well the delta can be reduced by establishing a  good relationship during the service period. Research shows in this area that customer satisfaction mainly driven by response to customer needs and followed by effective service. Thus customer communication plays a vital role and also the TRUST you build during the relationship.

Most of the times...we do not understand the impact of lack of service  or failure of the product in the customer environment. In the complex world the delicate dependencies on each other, make the service  more and more vulnerable.
Most of the time customer though expects an end to end view, customer is expecting you to be a core expert in your area.
Connecting to customers is an amazing experience... it has to be beyond the boundaries...well without expecting immediate gains ..you need to carve out  this relationship very carefully.
Just to quote an example of a famous store in US... A person walks in to this famous store for a replacement of flat used tyre complaining about the quality of the product. The store supervisor greets customer and immediately replaces the tyre. Well what is big about all of this....actually the tyre is not purchased at all in that stores...the supervisor answers to a store clerk this way...

"Well the moment the person walked in to our store, he/she had become our customer. customer did complain about our competition tacitly and I replaced the tyre just to ensure he is going to be our long term customer...he will be for  sure keep coming and buying here"....

Well....this story articulates well....about...what is customer service all about.

Will India Be a Super Economic Power by 2020

Recent G20 Summit Says so...The Economic Power status slowly shifts to China and India and in the  next decade , the transformation happens. India is already a great consumer market with its highest population, Otherwise all Mobile Cos and  FMCG would not have turned towards India. Today we get every brand which used to be sold only in Western part of the globe.

India GDP is poised to grow still at comfortable 8% in future years despite Recession in markets per recent economic surveys. However, I believe India's wealth is primarily controlled by Services Industry and we still yet to make a prominent mark in Mfg Industry. Unless India diversifies its exports in to various industries other IT Biz, the survival would be tough for us. Despite abundance of natural resources, it does not have the processing units in our country. It exports raw materials and imports still finished goods. The day when we export finished goods to other countries we tend to become self reliant.

Contrary to India, China dominates with nice Mfg Industries...you find every where Chinese stuff today.
India's inflation is at 8% today, but unless this comes down to 4% as targeted earlier by Reserve Bank of India, super status will be far from the reality. Despite political marriages between various parties, recently India enjoyed stability in the government and best of Finance Ministers, reforms continue to take the priority. The only head aches are the communal and religious riots across the country.

Well with all these still you can not forget India's dependency on agricultural industry, it needs to be isolated from floods, droughts...like may be linking the rivers across the country.

Thus with several initiatives we need to competely alleviate the poverty.

Markets vulnerabilities continue to exist as we are down by 40% today and almost over $6B washed out of the market. But Investors have to see the long term and should continue to invest and keep the confidence.

Any way As proud citizens of India, we should continue to provide best support to make the super power dream come to true.

Trust - is the real wealth of a leader

TRUST... The five words like five elements of life of a leadership... Lot of times we think what is the trust... Trust is the only value which needs a mutual reaction and has mutual benefits.

If you do not know whom trust in your society or at home or at office....just imagine...life will be miserable.

Think of you do not trust the milk man...who might have mixed some thing in the milk...you will never have your coffee
Think when you flying.....you do not trust the Pilot's capability....you never fly
Think of you do not trust your boss....you leave the organization.
See the next picture....nice way described in article in ZDNet
  • If you have negative beliefs and whether the facts or positive or negative before you.. you stop trusting some body or you never trust any body
  • If you have +ve beliefs and negative facts.... you would be on the verge of trusting some body of facts turn +ve.
Same way when you do a bungee jump...you need to trust the person, the tools and his experience and skill...otherwise...you never would do that... if you notice normally this is what the trainers would put in front of you...their experience and some facts about the bungee jump.

How would you build a trust ...

Trust comes from Transparent and Open communication...Trust comes from keeping commitments.....trust comes from fair treatment with out biases...Trust comes from delegation and empowerment....creating ownership and accountability..Trust comes from sharing, developing others...and building careers.....

I can go on......but a simple example.... I used to refer to lot of my DRs..
Well we take a person to swimming pool who does not know to swim or first time to pool...
We go there...tell him about the depth of pool, dos and don'ts....and teach him how to swim...
We will observe while the person is swimming and just there to help him...and once you trust that he can swim, we just walk away....
Just correlate this what we do in a organization....what all i said above will come in front of your eyes.
Just see the pictorial diagram, down loaded from the net...

Imagine...you have people around you whom you can trust and trust you...
Your professional and personnel life would be so sweet.............

Feed back - Is an art and a real process control

We wonder when some body likes to give feed back to us or we scare when we want to give some feedback. But what we must understand is two things

1.Giving and taking feed back is an art
2.It is a powerful mechanism found to control processes ranging from human being life to Organizational systems.

Well feed backs have to be constructive and requires guts to spell out what's your perception about some body and opportunity to correct each other.

In One Minute management -One of the principle was "One Minute reprimand" - Ken Blanchard talks about giving negative feedback first and positive feedback next...so that the person leaves on a constructive Note, This is contrary to traditional way of giving feed backs.

Why Feedback is so important and powerful.... first let us take an example of human body... did you sweat while doing your workout in the Gym..do your eye pupils reduce when you see bright light.... .yes these are reactions to Human body's process of feed backs to keep you controlled. When a rocket is fired in the sky .....there are feedback control systems constantly active to control the trajectory of flight path.

In organizations employee surveys, customer surveys are all part of the powerful feed back processes. Of course, if you do not take any corrective measures then it can cause havoc too...

Feed back as i said is an art....some tips
  1. You need to prepare for the feed back
  2. Make person comfortable before you give the feed back,
  3. It has to be constructive
  4. Use Data Points to convey the message...not any antidotes
  5. Give both negative and positive
  6. Listen to their point of view
  7. Create clear developmental action plans to review.
If you do not give feedback how does a person or process transform?

Ignited Minds

During Diwali Break, I read three books...Ignited Minds by Dr.APJ Kalam, Who Moved My cheese -Dr.Spencer Johnson and Invasion - Dr.Robin Cook....

Dr.Kalam's few points are really liked by me, while he was unleashing the power with in India in the book. He talks about three strengths - Physical, Mental and Spiritual . to make any country powerful, he talks about change in the education system, which needs to nurture the three strengths. True in My school days (in Sri Saraswathi Shishu Mandir), this has been the focus, probably that is what built a strong foundation for me to raise from a village belly to here.

He talks about another important aspect ..... invention....he advises first of all to dream big...dreams create a vision and vision calls for an action. But Invention....comes not only from Dreaming...also from constraints. Had India been sanctioned for missile technology, we would not have been created our sheer military power today.

Well same philosophy Organizations do adopt...they cut the budgets, head counts or some of the resources to push you to invent new ways of finding organizational efficiency.

I read lot of Books about Dr.Spencer Johnson and Kenneth Blanchard, I love these authors....they simply narrate with nice stories...the leadership traits. One Minute Management, the Little Book of coaching and Who Moved my Cheese...all the in the same league..... simple and superb.
Change is inevitable....change needs to be smelt...prepare for change....adopt the change....who reacts to this quick enough...succeed in life. I also cited few in my earlier blog....

Well Dr.Robin Cook, who is Doctor turned author of science fiction.....invasion is all about Alien triggering a virus which is going to destroy the human kind...
Well I understood at least lot of medical terms being an engineer....this is some other knowledge...

Why i prefer the Science fiction compared to normal fictions is that you can learn lot of new subject by reading. End of the day knowledge is the power....

Diwali or Deepawali -Festival of Lights

It looks like I am making a habit of commenting on every festival in India....well I Like them....now I am enjoying the festival at home.

But, lot of my people are working at office...That gives me little pain...I hope one day Indian IT service industry can take leaves for Indian festivals.

Well Diwali...every one likes....It is colorful, eating sweets, meeting friends and families. According to Hindu mythology some demon has to be killed....well Lord Krishna /Satyabhama (His 8th Wife) killed demon Narakasura.... on this day.
It is also start of new year for business men in India...where they open new financial books. Peo0le perform Goddess Lakshmi Pooja ( Money Goddess ) to invite her to their homes or business for good wealth.

Well All Stock exchanges in the world must perform this Pooja .....to invite Goddess Lakshmi to bless for the bull run.

Pune to Hyd

Wow!! First time we traveled from Pune to Hyd in the train, oops!!! pathetic experience... When do they modernize the Pune Railway station...Its is not that Pune does not have funds...but do not know why... Hope Laluji one day comes to this station and cleans the mess.

While traveling.....every body except who has reservation made the coach as foot path....people board and sit wherever and whenever....without tickets probably... well i must think next time taking the train....

Change Acceleration Process

At times you will be challenged with bringing in a change in an organization, for example whether it is in Financial health of the company or Customer Satisfaction or in Infrastructure of the company.

Well before we proceed, let us define what is the organization! It could be a corporate or Political Party or can be a NGO; All Needs to define around three things

People

Processes

Technology (knowledge or Tools)

When we want to bring in a change, you can not attack all these in three different directions, you need to follow a step by step method.
Ofcourse, change needs a clear Vision where you want to be.

First of all...you need to look at the people....How is the culture, what initiatives or programs you need to bring in to change the "mind set". This is important as you are surrounded by people, your Team, Your Bosses or Sr.Leaders, Customers and Stake Holders. You need to look at this as a 360 degree view. You need to plan a strategy for every body to bring in a change. This is simply called 'Shared Need'.

Few things help us in bringing a change in people perspective, one Motivation, Recognition, Involvement, Leading by example, walk the talk etc etc.... but well important of all these is winning the trust of every body, which is a difficult game.

Once you got success over first important element, then you need to establish Processes or policies. These processes have to be reliable and repeatable, then only you can steer for the victory. Most important in establishing a proper procedures, one should know again what is the problem and what goal you want to attain.

Well corporates now a days adopting no of Quality Tools to attack the processes, however I would like to remind that each quality tools have its own core strength and can bring in the change only in particular objective.
For example '6 sigma' can give huge change in Variation; 'Lean' can give you in Flow; ITIL can help in defining the frame works and ISO 9000 can help you in establishing controls/documentation.

Finally, the Knowledge or Technology change needs to be brought in; why I am advising to follow this order? With out people 'buy-in' or a path laid out in the form of Process, it would make difficult to execute a change.

Technology is not about IT, what I am talking about is some thing that is "core to your business"...it could be a knowledge or Technology or it could be tools. Well if you have right processes, it is easy to fit in Tools or Technologies

Ahh!!

Communication plays an important role in tying all these together to get what you want to do.

Knowledge Is the Power

Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man
-Swami Vivekananda

Knowledge can be acquired through many ways -
By Reading
From Teacher
By Observing
From Predecessors etc...

However every person will have his own learning styles like
Experience based learning : A person wants to experience and then learn from the experience.
Observatory learning: A person learns by observing others while they are experiencing.
Experimental learning: A person first does small pilot to learn and before doing whole thing.
Explanatory Learning: A person learns from some body's explanation.

Well there are lot of tools to measure for Leaning Styles one of them is Kerbos.... but always experience based learning is fastest as we know...bcz we learn from mistakes and we feel our learning.
Recently, we conducted Camp -ATLAS - an out bound program for employees... to make them learn from experiences....

Why Learning is important...learning gives a man knowledge...and Knowledge is the power...

Now a days...every body particularly in India people would like to possess broader knowledge, unlike other countries, where they want deeper knowledge in any subject. May be our education system is as such.

But I would feel go Deeper and Broader...that makes a person rich in knowledge.

Dussehra -a Festival of Good Victory over Evil

Well In India there are lot of festivals....however each festival is set by ancestors as booster in life and convey some important messages.

Dussehra means -Das- Hara.. a celebration of killing of 1o Headed Ravana by Lord Rama. Mother Durga fought for 9 days and killed the demon on 10th day.
Actually the 10 Headed Ravana represents the 10 Evil feelings in a human being like Anger(Krodha) , Jealousy (Asuya), Possessive (Moha), Lust (Kama), etc etc ..... so it is like purifying your self from all these.

Also Indian traditions set precedence for worshiping woman as Goddess...of course you see this also in Christianity worshiping Mother Mary. It is evident that who respects a woman would cherish prosperity in life.

Most of the festivals in India set for family reunions, so that the bonding is further strengthened.
Fasting during festivals also kicks off special enzymes for healthy body.

So our predecessors were so intelligent and great trend setters....who thought to bring good things to life.

This is the day where Good wins overs Evil....Happy DUSSEHRA....

SymGrind - Happy people -Happy Customers

I replicated the famous "iGrind" from GE/Genpact IT Services annual event in Symantec, and it is a huge success. It was energizing, refreshing and more over charged with high spirits. Always it is not the question of who won the trophy....it is always about give your best.

This reiterates one of the GE's philosophy about " Copy best practices shamelessly" ... Well I copied lot from Raja and Warun....and it took us to where we are in terms of customer satisfaction levels in Symantec...unbelievable 90% in just 6 months.

I also thank my team in Symantec and my old almanac GE/Genpact and of course my mentors.

Religion Fanatics

Religion is a practice to make a human being noble and helps him to establish a fact called "super power existence". That Super Power is called God in the name of Ram or Allah or Christ. India's other name is Bharat is a country known to be secular, rich in culture and values. However recent past incidents really tarnishing the image of our own Bharat. Whether it is Hindu or Muslim or Christian, violence is never appreciated in any of holy books practiced by these religions.

Even forceful conversions from one practice to another are also not appreciated by many globally, however some one should not take the path of violence. Our own Mahatma Gandhi is a true example and in his own country we had to see these.

My Dear Indians and Bharat Maata Ki Sons.... wake up, we are in the world of humanity....and moral values

"The only definition that can be given of morality is this: That which is selfish is immoral, and that which is unselfish is moral"
- Swami Vivekananda

Lagaan and Leadership

Lot of people might have seen the "Lagaan" Movie.....It teaches lot of things from leadership perspective.

Let us start when Ameer Khan challenges the British on the Cricket Play for abolishing the Tax. He raises the tempo and plays on emotions of the opponent to get them raise the challenge for maximum benefit.
First of all the villagers never played the Cricket in their life, this is like choosing complete discomfort zone, but what kept them motivated to play is the goal.

Once goal is set, it looks like impractical and unrealistic, as a leader Ameer convinces that this is achievable and portrays as a simple play....show your stakeholders and the team simple things out of complexities.

Then the key thing is selection of resources ...... design first what is the organization model, no biases...based upon expertise then fit the people accordingly....whether it is bowler or batsman.
Irrespective of creed, caste and religion..Ameer chooses his team.

Next step is get adequate training, whether it is sophisticated or rugged....you need a right coach...

Now the play starts.... Ameer walks them with confidence.... while they are unable to bowl the opposition out... He plays the tactics.. change is the key word here.. Spotting the bhola(handicapped person in the Movie) for spin bowling changes the course of the play. It is like finding your team member's core strength and leveraging for an advantage.

While opening the batting, you see Ameer leading the batting...that is like Lead by example.
Keep motivating Keep motivating till you achieve the goal.

So what is the villains got out of it... Never underestimate the competition.

India is into Nuclear Club

This was a moment of pride for India, as it is officially entered into Nuclear club. It is first time world deviated to give exception to India. Kudos to Manmohan (PM) + all the Bureaucrats and Scientists who worked and dared for this. India is the largest democratic country, growing economy and showed a matured political system to the world.

With this India can help all its energy needs and give greater momentum to the growing economy.

Well, we do not need to test our Nuclear weapons every time and call for the wrath of the world. India Declared self moratorium and has been maintaining this position.

But we should thank US, UK, Russia and France, with out whose support this would not have been possible.

Let us hope this would boost India as super power soon

Guru Pournima -5th September

Guru Parampara is very ancient tradition in India, Guru (the Teacher) is adored as equal to god and more than parents.

My first Guru is Sri Sarikonda Kotam Raju Garu, who taught me the ABCD s .
My Second guru is my own Father, who gave the direction to become engineer and I used to fix small radios at that time. This inspired me to take Electronics in my engineering.

Third Guru is Surendra Mohan who was my senior in CMC, who Taught me how to Fix computers.

My final Professional guru is SK Raja, who graduated me in Management and leadership skills.

So keeping the tradition...i just convey my sincere regards to all these gurus....

Nature's Power

God's Gift is this blue planet called earth, surrounded by beautiful nature. Water falls, Green Hills, White snowy mountains, Red Volcanoes. deep blue seas...wow....can you see any other planet this beautiful. Well Humans are always exploring withtheir intelligence space and nature.

Today most of our discoveries or inventions exploit the nature for better living.
(the Photo taken by me near by Pune)

You can live without money for years
You can live without food for months
You can live without Water for days
You can live with out Air for secs...

Imagine life without the mother nature....The power of nature comes good to us, when you produce electricity, make houses, create planes...but when mother natures shows her destructive power. which comes in the form of tsunamis, cyclones .....etc etc ...These are resulting when you unbalance the nature....who else is the responsible for the same, just everybody ..........need to save the nature and preserve the power of the nature.
Go........Go Green Please.....

Family Reunion

My Parents and brothers family just left Pune, The Pune station is most congested station I ever seen. Well this is set for defense personnel, but things changed...so better authorities make it neat and create more space for people & vehicles.
We need to balance between social stigma and professional stress.....it is always tough game in India. America surpassed this, but still in some parts of Europe and Asia the family culture still exists.
Now a days nucleus families are disappearing and satellite families are emerging. Both have advantages and disadvantages. In my view earlier part of the life when you get newly married, better stay away from nucleus families and then reunite post kids....

God Ganesha and Leadership

Fast approaching God Ganesha's Birthday in September. In Pune this is one of the big festival.

In Hindu mythology, it is believed that there are 30 Million i.e 3 Crore Gods, well each god born for a different purpose and had communicated a different message. Any way it should not be surprised that a country with more than 1 Billion people has 30 Million Gods.

OK, let us take Lord Ganesha...he is the leader of Gods Army, his features are Elephant Face, 4 Hands, a long Trunk, a large Stomach and short height. He used to travel always on a Rat....

Well there is some learning out of this god too.....Look at the description of this Leader..

His Abhay Hand : Says will take care
Ofcourse his small height indiactes humility .................

So our predecessors were very inteligent and used all kind of verbal and non verbal communications. They created Gods with specific features to convey us with out telling us.

Any way let us bow to Lord Ganesha.....

Happy Lord Krishna Birth Day

Today is Lord Krishna's Birth Day , Krishna's preachings are well known in Hindu Religion as Bhagawadgeetha.... which has 18 Chapters. This was taught to King Arjuna in Kurukshetra War, where the Pandava Kings defeated the Kauravas. Well mythology is always interesting to know, but one thing wonders me ....this war occurred probably 1000 Years ago , but they had all missile technology. King Arjuna was famous in these missiles or arrows....which used to be called as Naga (snake), Agni (fire), Vayu (air) etc etc...which used to be primarily surface to air and Surface to surface missiles.

Well Mahabharata gives us mixed learning, Sibling rivaling, Polygamy, Bloody wars et etc... but one that Lord Krishna gave us is the holy book Bhagavadgeetha....
which kind of preached humanity, Values, Respect etc......

Hare Rama Hare Krishna.....Hare Hare....
Happy Krishna Janmashtami

India Won first Individual Gold in Olympics

Thanks to Abhinav Bindra , who brought laurels to our country by winning first Individual gold and second gold after 28 years which was won by Hockey Team.

Well there were lot of other unsung heroes won silver and bronze, but this was really different pride for India.

But 2nd largest democratic country in the world, just produced one gold....at same length a country which is like us (china) produces several.....sports except for cricket has been looked down by every body...even if we can spend half of what we spent on IPL.....probably we can produce many Olympics heroes.. It is very clear from Abhinav's trimph that the entire system has to change and make it more cordial to motivatefor taking /games as a profession rather than hobby.

Let us hope Beijing will bring many many more golds.....definitely 080808 has been lucky for India sofar.

One World One Religion-Humanity

We have many ways to pray god and many religions to reach him. But if you notice few common things . Hindu religion believes in Bhagavadgita taught by God Krishna, Islam believes in Quran and Christians in Bible taught by Christ. Philosophy is based on books written or told by god or its followers/disciples. There is a resounding similarity between the way Krishna and Christ born.
Also There is utmost importance to five elements in the religions, for example Hindus call Pancha Bootha ( Fire, Earth, Space, Water, Air), the same elements were prayed by different ancient religions in different forms. Similarly Muslims have essential five practices
shahada (profession of faith), Salah (ritual prayer), Zakah (alms tax), Sawm (fasting during Ramadan), and Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). SIkhs religion also practices five importamt Ks...Kadga, Kesa, Kangan, kada etc....
Now to draw further more similiarities...Olympics got Five rings....is that saying Five is a common thread across the world...one world and one dream....

So if we keep digging deeper in to religions....they all teach one element is to respect humanity....
If we try to build that as core value....may be we donot see ny more terrorisam....

Pune as City

Just after passing out of Engg. college, I came for an interview to Pune with DRDO. It was with lush green, surrounded by hills and I felt like dream city. Now, when I moved over to here, it was a shock indeed. Unplanned roads, lost greenary, dried rivers and complete concrete jungle. However the blessing in disguise is still few places around pune keeps it's natural beauty like Nilshi, Mulshi, Mahabaleshwer etc etc....

I am surprised to see there are no green parks in pune like Hyderabad and also not many options venture our in the evenings except for food and shopping.

One more suprising element is the masks people wear with their duppatta, but looks like this is fallout of pollution in city.

The camp Nilishi the site where we went for Team building is an amaging location. white waterfalls and thick green trees, a big and deep lake, the rains were adding further beauty to the enviornment.

I hope the l adminsitration in pune gets its act right to make it greener and cleaner pune soon.

Creating the Winning Team

We live on this beautiful blue planet with full of people, connecting to each other is an art. In my view each person forms four rings in his life around him.

1.Professional Ring -which is outermost ring and normally person allows people whom he gets connected in office, business etc...

2.Social Ring: Second outer ring and connects to people whom they socialize with, for example a team in organization or sport

3.Family Ring: Second Inner ring, where a person gets connected through family connections or establishes through family friendship.

4.Personnel Ring: Inner most ring...allowed to close people, whom they can share secrets and limited to people whom they trust fully.

These are also articulated in 8th habit by Stephen covey as EQ, SQ, IQ and PQ (Emotional, Social, Intelligent and Physical Quotients).

In any organization or Sports team, if a leader can connect through all these rings to inner most and establish peer to peer relations, then he can create a winning team.

It is also the ability of a leader in identifying the right talent and ability to give up the bottom performers will help in achieving the goals.

It is like "Sailing together a boat" ......or "swimming together in Nemo movie" or The way "Spartans fought in movie 300".
